Sugarpine Railway Trail
The Sugarpine Railway Trail (Westside Trail), from Strawberry to Fraser Flat Bridge, begins in Strawberry
(adjacent to the Old Boy Scout Camp).
The trail is marked on the Old Strawberry Road with orange stakes and it
is 3 miles long. It was a railroad right-of-way on the south side of the Stanislaus River
for logging operations in the Strawberry area.
The trail is mostly wide and flat and is adjacent to the river after the first 1/4 mile. You will
see wild flowers, ferns and seasonal creeklets crossing the shaded trail.
The river gaging station is at the 2 mile point where there is a flume
that carries water downstream. No motorized vehicles are permitted on the trail.
