Multiculturalism in America
Is multiculturalism working in America? Is it good
to allow unbridled (call it illegal) immigration to continue
in this country? It used to be that foreigners who were
truely persecuted for their religious beliefs, were allowed to
immigrate into the US. It used to be that foreigners who were
doctors, engineers, scientists as well as other professionals
were encouraged to immigrate to the US. Most all Americans
can trace their ancestory to Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
Today, numerous cultures have entered the US not to make
it their country, but to change America to the country from
which they came.
My ancestors embraced America's values of freedom and liberty.
They looked forward to having only the opportunity to set-up
their own businesses, work hard, and be successful. They knew
to be successful, they would have to work hard. They knew to
be successful, they would have to have a good work ethic, a
product that people wanted, and a price that was affordable.
They also knew that it was absolutely necessary for them to
learn the English language, learn American customs, and
celebrate American holidays. It was necessary for them to
become a part of the American fabric and support the new
country in which they wanted to be successful. They truely
abandoned their old culture for their new American culture.
For us to determine if multiculturalism is working to the
benefit of all US citizens in America, we should ask the question
"Do the French believe that multiculturalism is working in
their country?" France has allowed decades of unbridled
immigration from North Africa. Have the French immigrants embraced
the French culture, French language, and have they worked hard
to become a part of the French culture to the benefit of that
country? Do these French immigrants adopt French customs and
culture or do they stay to themselves and listen
to news and entertainment programs in their native language?
Has French multiculturalism worked for the benefit of French
citizens? What is the cost France is paying for multiculturalism?
For many weeks, French cities and villages were
burned by riotous youth thugs and gangs. Rioters as young as 10
were part of the unrest and throwing fire bombs. Burned
vehicles exceeded 8,000 and hundreds of neighborhoods were
torched. Did North African immigrants come to France for a better
life and better job opportunities? Why are they now complaining about
30% unemployment and widespread racism? The question must be asked:
"How much effort have the immigrants made to be integrated into the
French culture?" Or do they just want hand-outs?
The question must also be asked: "What effort have immigrants
made to be integrated into our American culture?" I recently
went to a large home improvement warehouse and could not understand
the language that came over the PA/music system. I normally,
expect to hear "elevator music", but I momentarily thought I was in
a 3rd world foreign country. I walked out of the business bewildered
and stunned that they no longer cater to tax paying,
hard working home owners, but they now cater to foreigners who DO NOT
SPEAK ENGLISH. What has happened to my country when I step inside
an American business and hear a foreign language on the PA system?
Is multiculturalism working in America or have we succumbed to the
lowest common denominator. What type of people have been allowed to
enter this country? Have car bombing and torch tossing arsonist aliens
been allowed to enter this country like they have been allowed in France?
Have people who have no intention to be a part of the American
experiment been allowed in this country to destroy it? Have aliens
been allowed in this country to suck the welfare system dry and to freely
use any and all hospital emergency rooms at NO COST to them? Have
aliens been allowed to enter this country, retain their old country
culture and send back US dollars to mom and dad?
The US is fighting a war on terrorism in Iraq and Afghanistan so that terrorists will
be sucked into that black-hole and not here at home. It is time for
politicians to take a hard look at America's immigration policy, and
determine if what is happening in France may happen here at home.
I fear that political correctness of politicians has dealt a lethal blow
to common sense and self preservation. Politicians no longer ask: "what
they can do for America?" They are asking: "what can America do for them?"
JFK had it right when he asked: "Ask not what your country can do for
you, ask what you can do for your country." The proponents of multiculturalism
do not want Reagan's dream of a "city on a hill" but they desire a society
that is fully dependent upon government with no incentives for private
business or US citizens. The lowest common denominator is acceptable so
why should government protect the people.
If politicians are not willing to protect America from enemies both
foreign and domestic, then it is time to replace them with politicians who
who will work to protect the citizens of this country. How can any citizen be guaranteed
"life, liberty and the persuit of happiness", if politicians refuse to
legislate citizen protections and enforce present laws? Oh yea, the US
Border Patrol recently caught 10 OTM (other than Mexican) illegal alians coming across the
southern border and they were carrying their prayer rugs.
Has multiculturalism worked for America's benefit and to your benefit?
